India Drives Private Space Race As Europe Lags

European Capacity Concerns

While India rapidly increases its launch frequency European space agencies face severe logistical bottlenecks. The continent heavily relies on legacy systems like Ariane 6 to deploy critical navigation and military satellites. Forecasters anticipate that payload demands will vastly exceed available European launch capacity before the end of the decade. This looming launch deficit threatens essential continental infrastructure projects including the Galileo and Copernicus satellite networks.

Continental authorities recently invested nearly 900 million euros into five different private aerospace ventures to stimulate local competition. Unfortunately these generous public funding initiatives have yet to produce an operational orbital launch service.
